Passed wk 6 and 7....

Wow! I can't believe it has been almost 2 months since I've been on bed rest. I remember when I first went on bed rest I thought I wouldn't make it this far. I'm now over 29 wks gestation. I'm so happy to have made it this far and I hope to make it at least another month. I want these boys to spend little time if no time in the NICU. I had my first baby shower this weekend. It was so great. There a lot of people there that I haven't seen in a while, Wyatt and Carter got tons of gifts (which we are so grateful for), and I was able to get out of the house. I'm always happy when I can get out. :-) so, since I have lost most of my muscle, the littlest bit of work wears me out. After I was done opening presents I was sweating. Lol. That gave my a little work out. I'm not complaining though, it was nice. By 8:30-9 that night I was ready for bed....I was worn out. :-) My new fav thing is watching Wyatt and Carter move in my stomach. It's funny when I have my iPad on my stomach and they are kicking away, I can't type or anything on it. It makes me laugh. A new obsession or craving I've had lately is with Sunkist soda. I had Zach make me a Sunkist float instead of a root beer float and it was AMAZING! Tasted like a dreamsicle. Yum! My hands and feet have been really swollen lately and my stomach is so tight I feel like it can't stretch anymore (but I know it will). Thanks everyone for coming to the shower and the gifts that were giving to help us when these boys arrive. I know I say this in almost every post but.....I truly and grateful for my wonderful mother through this process and for all my friends and family for the help, love, and support they have given me. I can't thank y'all enough. Love y'all!

5 wks gone and into wk 6...

Yay! 5 wks have passed. I have a doc appt in a couple of days. I'm so excited because I haven't got to see my boys on ultrasound in 3 weeks. I'm hoping I'll still get good news from the doc. I've been kind of bad lately.... Since my last appt (3 wks ago) when I got good news. I have been getting up probably more than I should. For example, I'm a planner (with some things) and I've been wanting to get my hospital bag ready in case the boys come to early. So, i had my mom take me to kohls so I could get a robe for when I'm in the hospital. BUT... I did not walk. She pushed me in a wheelchair. So, I hope im still doing good when I go to the doc. My biggest fear (besides them coming to early) is that he will put me on hospital bed rest. I don't want to stay in the hospital. Staying one night when I had my cerclage was bad enough. I'd rather be at home. So, we will see how the appt goes. I pray the boys are still healthy and growing... I feel like they are because my belly is HUGE! :-) I feel like thy are already developing personality. The baby on my left side they call baby A. We planned on calling baby A, Wyatt. Anyways, he is so active. Kicking and moving all the time. Baby B (on the right) is a little more reserved. He isn't as active. He seems more laid back and chilled. Lol. They are identical twins but they might have different personalities. We shall see. I can't wait til they get here! I want to see what features thy got from me and what they got from their dad. Zach and I have very different features so I'm curious. We don't want them coming to soon though! :-) I took maternity pics last Thursday. I got to see a sneak peek on Facebook. They turned out really good. I'm glad I got to take them. I also got their baby books in and have filled them out already. :-)

A whole month....

Yesterday was the day I have been on bed rest for a whole month. The past month actually went by faster than I thought it would. I'm hoping the next month does the same. I think it will because I have my baby showers coming up and I'm really looking forward to that. I don't have much to say but I did want to jot down some of the cravings I've had since I've been pregnant. Cravings: -Cantaloupe -Bagels w/cream cheese -Orange juice -Popsicles -Yogurt with strawberries and blue berries in it -Watermelon. Yum! Week 3....

Another week goes by and I'm so grateful for that. I am now 25 weeks. Being on bed rest is really getting to me now. The first couple of weeks weren't bad, but now I'm starting to get bored and frustrated at times. Some days are better than others. I've missed my independence. Last Sunday, Zach and another brother from our church were able to administer the sacrament to me since I haven't been able to go to church. While Zach is at church I'll watch the devotional on the BYU channel or I'll read the RS lesson from the manuel. I had another doc appointment with my high risk doc this past Wednesday and everything looked good. I love getting good news when I go to the doc appointments. Wednesday is also the day my mom comes over. We have been needing new appliances so we bought a new Dyson ball vacuum, and new washer and dryer. They are obviously for her (since I can't do chores right now) to help make cleaning easier. I think she likes them :-) I have some great friends and family. Saturday, my friend Krystle and my sis-in-law Tiffany came over to help get the boys' room ready. They did a coat of primer so we can get ready to paint it. Zach had to go do work at the deer lease so these wonderful girls volunteered to help. I'm so grateful for them. Well, even though I feel helpless and not in control, I know that what I'm doing is best for these boys. I just have to keep telling myself that. We've waited so long to have children and I'll do what it takes to see that they are healthy. KEEP COOKIN' BABIES! :-) P.s. if you know how to upload pics from the iPad to the blog, let me know. Week 2 on bed rest

I'm so glad another week has passed of being on bed rest. Each week is so crucial for these growing boys! I am now 24 weeks gestation. This past week was pretty good. On Saturday, the weather was so beautiful I just could not stay in the house. It was a high of 73 degrees with low humidity. So, Zach and I drove south to look at our land(it's an investment piece of land). I just laid down in the car while he drove. We had the sun roof open and the windows down. It was great! Letter that night my brother and parents came over and we grilled steaks. Yum! On Monday night I had some awesome friends come over and bring us dinner. The food was great and we were able to chat a little bit. Tuesday, I had another great friend come over. She brought me a goodie box. It had root beer, candy, and the Walking Dead tv series. Wednesday my mom came over and cleaned and cooked dinner. Thursday I had a doc visit that Zach took me too. The doc just checked the heartbeats of the boys and talked to me about coming in every 2 weeks now. So, hopefully going to see him every 2 weeks and my high risk doc every 3 weeks, the weeks will go by faster. I know I say this a lot....but I truly am grateful to have such a wonderful mom who sacrifices her time to come evey week to clean, cook, and keep me company. I hope I'm half the mom she is. Love you mom! Also, I'm so grateful for amazing friends and family who have come to visit me to make this process easier on me. Thanks y'all. Love you all!

I survived....

So, week 1 on bed rest has passed. It was tough at times, but I know this is the best thing for my boys. So, in my first week I was able to:

- sleep in

- feel the boys moving more in my stomach :-)

- take a nap when I wanted

- picked up crocheting again

- able to visit with friends I didn't get to see very much

- catch up on my shows

- started my blog back up

- I got to eat jelly bellys almost everyday (thanks Jess for the huge bag)

On a not so positive note I:

- have had to ask others for help with daily activities

- hip pain, back pain

- trouble sleeping at night (not all nights)

- Slight boredom

- feel like a burden sometimes

- had a cerclage put in

So, I'm glad my first week on bed rest was not as bad as I thought it would be. However, I do have several more weeks to go so we will see how the weeks to follow go.

I went to the doc on wed to see how my cerclage was doing and he was so happy with the way everything was going. He gave me an A+. I actually gained back more length to my cervix (which is a good thing). Yay! He also said I could eat sitting up. I was so happy to hear that as well. It is not fun eating laying down. Anyways, I'm hoping week 2 goes by fast and smoothly. Thanks everyone for your sweet words and prayers.

Bed rest...

Many of you know that Zach and I are expecting identical twin boys this summer. We are soooo excited to FINALLY be able to start out family. Well, the boys are healthy and strong and growing nicely. Right now they are a little over a pound each. Because I'm having multiples, I have to see a regular OB/GYN and a high risk doc. This past Wednesday I went in to see my high risk doc for a regular 3 week check up. The appointment was going well as they monitored the boys and were very pleased with their progress. At the end, my high risk doc checked me cervix to make sure it was a good length and that it was strong. Well, that was not the case. He had a hard time finding it because it had gotten short and soft so fast. He told me to go home and get my things because I would need to stay at he hospital for a day or two and I would have to get a cerclage. A cerclage is a procedure where they sew up the cervix to keep the babies in longer. Thursday morning I had the cerclage put in and Thursday evening I was able to leave. I'm so glad I didn't have to spend another night in the hospital. I was emotional when I woke up from the anesthetics and I didn't know why but I knew things would be different. I had some cramping from the procedure but I got pain meds for that. When I was able to go back to my room I saw Zach and my mom waiting for me. I was so happy to see them I started crying. Then, Zach came over and told me what the doc had told him... He said if he did not catch this in time then I would have gone into labor and had to deliver the babies at 21 weeks and they would not have survived. I was so scared and sad at what could have been that I could not stop crying. We have waited so long to have a family and we could have lost them.

So, now I am on strict bed rest. I can not sit up. I can't eat dinner at the dinner table I have to eat laying down or at a little incline. I can only go to the bathroom or take a shower and come lay back down. I can't take a shower every day. It's has to be every other day or every 3 days. And obviously I can not go anywhere except to the doctors office.

Well, now that you know what is going on....my sis in law suggested I write a blog about my journey on bed rest :-). I thought it would be a fun thing to do and it would be another thing to keep me busy and occupied. I'm not sure yet whether I want to do day by day or week by week. I will prob do week by week just because I do a lot of the same things every day, like laying down. :-) So, writing week by week will be my verbal "celebration" of being able to keep these babies cooking another week. Right now I'm 22 weeks and 3days. My doc hopes I can make it 9 weeks so they have a better chance at surviving. I'm shooting for 12 weeks. We will see what happens.

I did receive a blessing from my husband and dad on Thursday evening and that helped me be at peace with the whole situation. Then, I read my patriarchal blessing and that also gave me peace and hope. I know that the Lord has a plan for us and I know that He will take care of me and the babies. I was really sad at first but now I'm more optimistic and will do what I have to do for my baby boys so they can be healthy and strong.

Kansas...

In June, the same week I was up in Oklahoma, I was able to go see my best friend from college. She lives in Kansas. We are both teachers so we try and see each other every summer or at least once a year. It is always fun to see her!



Kansas is known for their aviation. We went to this little restaurant at a little airport. It was so cute and the food was really good.

We were able to go to her in-laws and hang out. We swam in the pool and fished in the pond.

We went to the museum and they had a CSI thing you could go to and try and solve the crimes they had displayed. IT was fun! Below are 2 of the crimes we solved.

This crime was a women who was an apiring actress and she finally got a job acting. She told her friend about the good news. Her friend was jealous and gave her some drugs that killed her.

This guys' ex-wife had shot him in the head and then buried him in the desert. His remains showed up 5 years later.

Oklahoma...

In June was able to go visit my sister who lives in Oklahoma. It was so nice to see her and her family. She is pregnant and so I got to see her cute belly. I had a fun time with my niece who is always so fun to play with. Even though I only got to spend a couple of days there, it was a lot of fun.

While I was visiting, my sis and I made these cheesecake bites. They were sooo good! The recipe is from the cook book: Our Best Bites.

This is a ham and cheese calzone. It is soo good! All you use is the Pillsbury cresent rolls, ham, shredded cheese, and on top is melted butter with a little bit of a ranch packet. It was yummy and really easy.

We were watching Ratatouille. That was my first time seeing it. IT was really a cute movie. She loves watching movies!

Baptisms and MORE birthdays...

June was a very busy month, but a lot of good things happened that month. One of them was that my niece and nephew decided to get baptised. In our church, children are baptised at the age of 8 (about the age of accountability). So, my niece and nephew are 1 day apart so I was able to attend both of their birthday parties and baptisms. It was a lot of fun!

Me and my niece. She is the oldest out of the grandkids and by far the tallest. She is going into high school and she is ALMOST taller than me. I cant believe how she has grown into a beautiful young women. Back off boys...her dad says she cant date until she is 35. :)

Zach and I get her those for her birthday. Goofy glasses, a blue pillow, and an Uno game! We had fun playing the Uno game! For my nephew, Zach and I got him his first BB gun! He likes to shoot things. (Sorry I didnt get a pic of that)

She has no idea what is coming. LOL! JUST KIDDING. You will only feel a pinch.

My niece got her ears pierced a couple of days after her baptism. Her fav. color is blue so she got blue rhinestones. She was very brave and I think it only hurt a little. :)

Pedicures

I love girl time. I especially love getting pedicures. That was a fun day of Pool time and pedicures.

Pool Time...

We love it when Julia house-sits for a friend of hers. She has an awesome backyard where we love to grill out and play in the saline pool. Here are a few pics from a fun day at the pool. Oh, and our new fav. pool game is Dibble Dabble. It is kind of like musical chairs. You have one less toothpick than there are people and one person dives down and puts them on the bottom of the pool. Then, they will come to the surface at different time. Everyone is standing out of the pool on the edge and when you see one, you have to jump in and get a toothpick. If you do not get a toothpick on your jump in, then you have to get back out of the pool and try again. It is soooo fun.

Tanya and Ryan's Wedding

Zach's Birthday

Waaaay back in May, we celebrated Zach turning 30. It was a great day. Not only was is the day that the love of my life was born, but one of my childhood friends got married that day (Congrats again Allison and Matt). That day is also the day of a couple of our friends' children's birthday. Anyways, we had a great time with family and friends. We are so glad Zach's brother Paul was able to drive down for the day and share that day with us. For Zach's b-day, he wanted to eat crawfish. We had soooo much crawfish it was ridiculous!
